The Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! “Circular Economy Contest” (the “Contest”)

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES (“Official Rules”)

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY to enter Contest or win a prize.

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to legal residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside on or before the final day of the Contest Period (as defined below). You are not eligible if you are: (a) an officer, director, representative, agent or employee of Call2Recycle Canada, Inc. (the “Sponsor”), their respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries or related companies, and each of their respective advertising, promotional, publicity or production agencies, or any other provider of goods or services related to this Contest; (b) an employee of the independent contest organization; or (c) a member of the immediate family (defined as parent, child, sibling, or spouse, including common law, regardless of where they reside) or live in the same household with (whether related or not) any of the above individuals. 

HOW TO ENTER: The Contest begins at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on October 1, 2025, and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on October 31, 2025 (“Contest Period”).

During the Contest Period, there are two (2) ways to enter the Contest.  

  1. Drop Off Single Use or Rechargeable Batteries. During the Contest Period, drop off any single use batteries or rechargeable batteries at a participating/public Call2Recycle collection location, which can be found at https://recycleyourbatteries.ca/find-a-drop-off-location//. You will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Contest once you scan the QR code displayed at the collection location on boxes, Smart Containers and posters or visit RecycleYourBatteries.ca/contest (“Website”), and complete the entry process and confirm your entry location.
  • No Purchase Necessary. To enter without a battery drop off described above, send a handwritten 3”x 5” piece of paper with your first and last name, full address, date of birth, phone number, email address and the subject line “Call2Recycle Canada Inc., The Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! Circular Economy Contest”, and mail to, Earth Month Contest, 28 Madison Ave. Suite 1, Toronto, ON M5R 2S1 to receive one (1) entry into the contest (the “Mail-In Entry”). Mechanical reproductions are not allowed. Limit one Mail-In Entry per hand-addressed stamped envelope. Mail-In Entries must be postmarked by October 31, 2025, and received by November 7, 2025 to be eligible for the Contest. Any entry deemed inappropriate in Sponsor’s sole discretion will be disqualified.

LIMIT:  There is a limit of one (1) entry per person regardless of method of entry. Multiple entries received from any person more than the stated limit will be void. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means or which attempt to subvert the entry process, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will be void.   All entries are subject to verification. Proof of transmission (screen shots or captures) does not constitute proof of receipt or entry.  Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for this Contest. All entries become property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned except as indicated herein.

RANDOM DRAW: A random draw for each prize will be conducted from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period on November 14, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. EST at 28 Madison Ave. Suite 1, Toronto, ON M5R 2S1. Odds of winning will depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

NOTIFICATION AND WINNER CONFIRMATION: Sponsor will attempt to contact selected entrants via email within 10 business days of the draw date. To be confirmed a winner, a selected entrant must, within 7 days of the date of the first email notification:  (a) provide proof of identity,  eligibility and compliance with Official Rules; (b) correctly answer, without assistance of any kind (whether mechanical or otherwise) a mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone or email; and (c) execute and return the Declaration of Compliance with Contest Rules/Liability Release/Consent to Publicity (“Forms”)  within 7 days of the date indicated on Sponsor’s letter sending such Forms.

Prize will not be awarded until such requirements are met. Sponsor will not be responsible for failed attempts to contact the selected entrant, including but not limited to if the email is returned as undeliverable or the selected entrant cannot be reached by email within seven (7) days of the date the email notification was sent. If a selected entrant cannot be confirmed a winner as described above, the selected entrant will be disqualified, and the prize will be awarded to an alternative entrant upon completing the same confirmation.

PRIZES:

There are a total of eight (8) prizes available to be won, as set out below:

GRAND PRIZE: There is one (1) Grand Prize available to be won, consisting of a four (4) days/three (3) night trip for the Grand Prize winner and his or her travel companion to Vancouver, British Columbia. The Grand Prize consists of (i) round-trip economy air transportation for the Grand Prize winner and his or her travel companion between the major airport that is nearest to the Grand Prize winner’s residence  and Vancouver; (ii) three (3) nights’ hotel accommodations (one (1) room, double occupancy) at a hotel selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion; (iii) a personal meet and greet with Canadian professional soccer player Christine Sinclair; and (iv) $500 in spending money. The total approximate retail value (“ARV”) of the Grand Prize is $2,650, based on a Toronto departure. The actual value for travel prizes may vary depending upon points of departure and fare fluctuations. 

The Grand Prize winner’s travel companion must have reached the age of majority in his or her province.  Grand Prize winner and travel companion must complete and return Consent to Publicity/Release of Liability forms prior to any travel arrangements.  

In the event a Grand Prize winner’s residence is close enough to Vancouver such that air transportation and hotel accommodations are deemed by Sponsor in its sole discretion to be unnecessary, the applicable Grand Prize will not include air transportation or hotel accommodations and will instead include an additional $2,000 in spending money as substitution for those components of the Grand Prize. No further substitution or compensation will be provided. 

The Grand Prize winner and his or her travel companion/s must travel together on the same itinerary and must possess all required travel documents, including valid passports, if and as applicable, and comply with any applicable hotel check-in requirements, such as presentation of a major credit card.  All aspects of the travel portions of the Grand Prize must be conducted on such dates as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.  The dates of departure and return are subject to change at Sponsor’s sole discretion.   Airline tickets are non-refundable/non-transferable and are not valid for upgrades and/or frequent flyer miles.  Other travel restrictions and blackout dates may apply.  All airline tickets are subject to the vagaries of flight variation, work stoppages, and schedule or route changes.  Sponsor reserves the right to structure travel routes and select hotels in its sole discretion.  The Grand Prize winner will not receive cash or any other form of compensation if actual travel costs are less than the estimate made in these Official Rules.  The round trip air transportation element for any travel prize begins and ends at the point of departure.  No interest will be awarded on cash prizes.  Room taxes and other hotel fees are not included and if applicable may be payable at the time of check-out by the winner/guest.  A deposit or payment in advance, or presentation of a credit card by the Grand Prize winner, may be required at the time of check-in at the hotel.  Any hotel cancellations or changes to hotel reservations after confirmation must be made with the hotel directly, and the Grand Prize winner is solely responsible for any charges and/or fees arising from changes made directly with the hotel.  The prize restrictions/conditions stated herein are not all-inclusive and the Grand Prize described above may be subject to additional restrictions/conditions, which may be stated in the Forms (as defined above) and/or other travel documents.  In the event the Grand Prize winner and/or his or her travel companion engages in behavior that, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, is obnoxious or threatening, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the trip or other applicable experience early, in whole or in part, and send the Grand Prize winner and/or his or her travel companion/s home with no further compensation.  The travel portion of the Grand Prize must be redeemed and travel must be completed by May 31, 2026.

All expenses and incidental travel costs not expressly stated in the Grand Prize description above, including but not limited to, ground transportation, meals, incidentals, passenger tariffs or duties, surcharges, airport fees, service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, taxes, gratuity or other expenses are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize winner.

In the event that the meet and greet listed in the Grand Prize description does not or cannot take place as scheduled or at all, for reasons including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, cancellations, postponement, an event of “Force Majeure” (defined below), or for any other reason, then the remaining components, if any, of the Grand Prize shall constitute full satisfaction of Sponsor’s prize obligation to the Grand Prize winner, and no other or additional compensation will be awarded.

FIRST PRIZE: There is one (1) First Prize available to be won, consisting of a Linq 48V Folding E-Bicycle with retail value of $1,799.99.

SECOND PRIZE: There are five (5) Second Prizes available to be won, each consisting of a Craftsman V20 Brushless RP 2-Tool Combo kit. Each kit includes two battery-powered drills and two batteries, with a retail value of $259.99 per kit.

THIRD PRIZE: There is one (1) Third Prize available to be won, consisting of a Craftsman V20* BRUSHLESSRP™ Blower (5.0Ah) with a retail value of $219.99.

Winner(s) of FIRST PRIZE, SECOND PRIZE and THIRD PRIZE(S) must take delivery of the Prize within thirty (30) days of Sponsor’s receipt and verification of the completed Forms and any other legal documents that Sponsor may deem necessary. Method of delivery of prizes will be coordinated with confirmed winners. Shipped prize shall not be insured and Sponsor shall not assume any liability for lost, damaged or misdirected prize. If the prize or any component is returned as undeliverable for any reason whatsoever, the winner will forfeit his/her prize and the prize will not be re-awarded nor re-delivered at a later date.

Prizes must be accepted as awarded without representation, warranty or guarantee of any kind, and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. None of the Released Parties (as defined below) make any representation or offer any warranty, express or implied, as to the quality, merchantability or fitness of a prize or a component of a prize awarded in connection with the Contest. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the confirmed winner understands and acknowledges that he or she may not seek reimbursement or pursue any legal or equitable remedy from either the Sponsor or any of the Released Parties should a prize or any portion thereof fail to be fit for its purpose or is in any way unsatisfactory. For greater certainty and the avoidance of any doubt, by accepting a prize, the confirmed winner agrees to waive all recourse against the Releasees if the prize or a component thereof does not prove satisfactory, either in whole or in part. Winner may not substitute, assign or transfer a prize, except where written, but Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute a prize with one of comparable or greater value.

COMPLIANCE WITH CONTEST RULES/SPONSOR:  By entering, entrants acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to abide and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.  Any entrant’s failure or refusal to comply with these Official Rules will result in his/her entries being void, and entrant being disqualified from Contest.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, stolen, misdirected, delayed, undelivered, illegible or garbled registrations, log-ins or entries; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of registrations, log-ins or entries, the announcement of the prize or in any Contest-related materials.

Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, or the failure of any information to be captured, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to participants’ or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in this Contest or use of the Website.

DISQUALIFICATION:  Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Contest or Website or who are otherwise in violation of these Official Rules, as solely determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified and all associated entries will be void.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant where it is suspected or evident that tampering with the Contest operation, or a violation of these Official Rules, has occurred.  WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CONTEST OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PROSECUTE AND SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

MODIFICATION ETC. TO RULES/CONTEST: The Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to modify the Official Rules and suspend, modify or terminate the Contest at anytime and for any reason, including, but not limited to, if the Contest or any portion of the Contest should be, in Sponsor’s sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of entries, and, if terminated, at its sole discretion, notice will be posted on the Website and Sponsor will conduct a random draw from among all non-suspect entries received prior to action taken or as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor.

RELEASES / INDEMNITY.  Entrants, by participating in the Contest, agree to (a) release, discharge and hold harmless the Sponsor and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, related companies, and each of their  advertising, promotion, publicity and production agencies, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents or representatives (collectively, “Released Parties”) from and against any and all manner of, and each of the Released Parties shall be held harmless by entrants against, any liability, for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including death, to persons, or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse, use or inability to use of a prize (or a portion of the prize) or participation in this Contest; and (b) indemnify the Released Parties against any loss, damage or expense, including legal fees, that any of the Released Parties may suffer or incur in connection with the participation of the entrant in this Contest or the. acceptance, possession, misuse, use or inability to use of a prize (or a portion of the prize).

CONSENT TO PUBLICITY: Winners, by accepting a prize, except where legally prohibited, grant permission for Sponsor and its designees to use his/her name, address (city and country), photograph, voice and/or other likeness and prize information for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without further compensation, in all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide in perpetuity, without notice or review or approval by winner and without further consideration. Winner agrees that all contact with the media, if any, regarding the Contest and the prize awarded shall be coordinated by Sponsor, and a winner shall not discuss the Contest or the prize with any media organization without the Sponsor’s consent.

DISPUTE REGARDING ENTRANT: In the event of a dispute regarding entries received from multiple users having the same email account, the authorized subscriber of the email account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant and must comply with these Official Rules. Authorized account subscriber is the natural person who is assigned the email address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses.

PRIVACY: By entering a Contest, you hereby expressly consent to the collection, use and distribution of your personal information (such as your name, telephone number, age and home address) by the Sponsor for the purposes of administering the Contest.  Sponsor will not share this information to third parties except for the purposes of assisting Sponsor administer the Contest. This section does not limit any other consent(s) that you may provide the Sponsor in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal information for other purposes. With your express consent obtained by checking the opt-in box at the time of entry, you agree that Call2Recycle Canada, Inc. may also collect, use and disclose your personal information (including information collected in connection with this Contest) to bring you offers from Call2Recycle Canada Inc. You can unsubscribe at any time.  For any questions about the handling of your personal information, please visit the Sponsor’s privacy policy available at www.call2recycle.ca/privacy/.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: All intellectual property, including but not limited to trademarks, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, images, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations are owned by the Sponsor (All rights reserved). Unauthorized copying or use of any of the Sponsor’s intellectual property without the express written consent of the Sponsor is strictly prohibited.

GOVERNING LAW: The Contest and Official Rules are governed and interpreted by the laws of Canada and the province of Ontario, as applicable therein, without regard to its conflict of law rules that would cause the application of any other laws.

RULES GOVERN: The Contest will be run in accordance with the English Official Rules at RecycleYourBatteries.ca/contest, which shall prevail, govern and control in the event of any inconsistency with any Contest-related materials including but not limited to French Rules.

GENERAL: This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and local laws. The Sponsor reserves the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operator errors.  Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.  The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.  If any provision of the Official Rules is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, then the Official Rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
